Sporting Support

Any sports person, athlete or club is only as good as their support team, and the Town of East Grinstead is no different.

In my role as SSCO (school sports co-ordinator) for Imberhorne School, I have been lucky enough to be part of a network of people that all have the very same specific aim in common; an aim that looks to enhance the lives of young people through sport.

Our East Grinstead network is vast. It starts with Mr Brown (Imberhorne Head) and  Mr Grant (Sackville Head) leading by example and continues with our Town Council and Sports Council showing continued support for young people by championing numerous events, projects and funding opportunities.

Significantly, our network also involves coaches, team managers, sports leaders from Sackville and Imberhorne, club volunteers, our fantastic Primary School Heads, PE departments and Co-Ordinators, and of course parents, all of whom give up an incredible amount of their own free time to help and inspire others.

As a town we are also very fortunate to be able to count on the experience of figureheads such as Richard Leman and Justin Bishop, as well as ‘drivers’ such as Rex Whittaker (Town Council), Bob Shelley (Sports Council), Simon Hardy (MSDC), and Lorraine Everard (Mid Sussex Active).

This current strong network of people is working harder than ever to ensure sustainable and equal opportunities for all people in East Grinstead to ensure a healthier and more connected community.
